Omiya Games originally developed the game for #OneGameAMonth challenge on April, 2013. Per the namesake of the game jam, it was created within a month by one developer, Taro Omiya. The optional game jam theme that inspired the game was, "fair." Oddly enough, the project actually served two purposes: one, to have the developer learn and review the new Unity UI framework, which was being released as a beta by the time the game jam happened; and two, to let out some steam on the developer's experience with making mobile games. Intended to be a satirical commentary on the mobile app stores, the rough web version proved to be surprisingly popular on web portals such as GameJolt.
On February 2015, the studio announced it had began developing the new mobile app. Not a Clone would be remade with new graphics and polished UI for the iOS and Android platform. In addition, the game would be better streamlined with microgames needing to be unlocked through an in-game store and currency.
The first version of the app released on October 13th, 2016.
Bottom line: If you like Warioware and making fun of mobile games, this is the app for you.
